EducationI hold a BA from Dartmouth College, where I was a Rufus Choate Scholar and graduated with High Honors, and two master’s degrees in the humanities from NYU completed under Pulitzer Prize-winning and acclaimed professors.
ExperienceI double-majored in music and writing but began college as a mathematics major and have demystified a range of subjects from algebra to geometry to the SAT for my students. As an adjunct lecturer at New York University, a guest lecturer at Stony Brook, and an adjunct professor at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, both tenured faculty and students gave me among the highest ratings for my teaching. What's more, over seven years of one-on-one tutoring, I've worked with a wide range of students of all ages. My tutoring style is warm, creative, and friendly but also rigorous, with a focus on not only learning a test but also the associated general academic skills that will last throughout college and a lifetime.
Best of all for my clients, I'm the founder of Ivy Scholastic, a New York City-based tutoring company that specializes in standardized test prep and college application consultation. We're all Ivy League grads with 99th percentile test scores who work together as a team to tailor tutoring to each individual student. Our tutors all hold master's degrees or PhD's, and you can learn more about us at ivyscholatic.com.
The ethos of a professor is to practice what he teaches. As a writer and novelist, not only have I won several national literary awards and published widely at the professional level, but I also enjoy retaking the SAT to ensure I still score in the 99th+ percentile and am up-to-date on the latest test developments. In addition, my past academic accomplishments include earning AP Scholar with Distinction, salutatorian status at my high school, the NCTE writing award, state-level piano performance awards, and more.
I'm looking forward to making more impacts on my students’ test scores and academic potential.
HobbiesTango dancing, piano playing, and martial arts. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities for all three here in Charlottesville! There is a surprisingly large tango community in town and plenty of venues to show off one's latest composition. I even get to indulge in surfing at Virginia Beach, which is often quite beginner friendly.
